SHOULDER REPLACEMENT
Uncommonly, the shoulder can develop arthritis, especially if the supporting muscles (the rotator cuff) have been torn.
A unique type of shoulder replacement is a Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement. Here, the ball and socket are swapped in position — hence the term "reverse". This allows improved post-replacement shoulder function in shoulders with a deficient rotator cuff.
