KNEE SURGERY
Common knee pathologies are
- Meniscal tears
- Anterior cruciate and collateral injuries
- Patella dislocation
- Plica syndrome
Dr Bond performs mostly arthroscopic knee surgery.
MENISCAL TEARS
A twisting injury to the knee can cause a meniscal tear.
Most often this presents with persistent knee apina dn sometimes “locking “ of the knee
Surgery can be arthroscopic repair or resection of the meniscus dependent on the tear configuration.
Day procedure
30 minute surgery

Risks : retear
ACL tears
Anterior cruciate tears are caused most often by a fixed foot with a pivoting knee. Immediate pain and swelling of the knee occurs. Concommitent tears of the meniscus can occur. Reconstruction of the ACL ligamnent will give you back a stable knee.
ACL reconstruction most often with a hamstring autograft and augmentated with a fibre tape internal brace (Arthrex)
Overnight surgery
1 and half hours

Risks: retear, infection, stiff knee
Patella dislocation
Young patients especially with lax ligaments are at rik of patella dislocations. If conservative treatment fails and dislcoations become recurrent, surgery shuld be considered.
Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with fibre tape (Arthrex) reinforcement.

Overnight surgery
1 and half hours
Risks: infection, malalignment
