DR RYAN PHILLIP BOND

Dr Ryan Phillip Bond grew up in Durban and matriculated from Durban High School in 1992. He completed his medical degree at the University of Cape Town in 1998 and attained his orthopaedic postgraduate degrees from both the University of Pretoria and the College of Medicine in 2010. From 2011 to 2014, he served as an orthopaedic consultant at Ngwelezane Hospital in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, before entering private practice at Mediclinic George in 2014.

Passionate about nature, Dr Bond has travelled extensively across Southern Africa, from bushveld to fynbos, exploring its rich fauna and flora. A top Southern Cape birder, he has won the Western Cape Birding Big Day Challenge several times with his team, the Tripping Trogons. He is also an amateur artist with a deep appreciation for South African art, particularly landscape portraits showcasing the diverse habitats of the region.

With a strong rugby background, Dr Bond has played for Hamiltons (Cape Town), Collegians (Durban), and Harlequins (Pretoria).

He is a dedicated family man, married to Debbi, with three children who attend George Preparatory and Outeniqua High School. Committed to making a future in South Africa, he has a special interest in joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, foot and ankle pathology, and trauma orthopaedics.
